CBSE Introduces syllabus For AI of Class 8 and 9 for Academic Session 2019-20
The Central Board of Secondary Education popularly known as CBSE has Artificial Intelligence introduced a new subject in the curriculum for Class 8th and 9th. So, recently CBSE has introduced the curriculum for Artificial Intelligence for both the classes 8 and 9. AI is included as a skill subject and not as an academic subject. AI will be taught as a certification course for CBSE Class 8 standard students and for CBSE Class 9 it will be taught as a regular course.
According to the CBSE’s guidelines schools those who have 20 computers in their computer lab can apply to offer AI as a subject to their students. For these 20 computers, the school must have minimum internet bandwidth of 50 mbps.
CBSE will provide training to the teachers of those schools who opt to offer AI so that the curriculum will be effectively implemented and deliver the desired learning outcomes. In terms of assessment part, for Class 8 students there will be no assessment and for Class 9 students the assessment will be the same as other skill subjects.
As of now, the board has decided to introduce AI in class 8 and class 9 and will take a call on introducing it to higher classes at a later stage.
