This week’s ‘Economy This Week’ segment brings to you all you need to know about the topic India, WTO and Dispute Settlement. Economics is an important segment of the IAS exam and is also extensively linked to current affairs.

In November, WTO ruled in favour of Japan which had opposed the safeguard duties imposed by India on steel imports. Apart from that, there have been other issues of agriculture subsidy (subsidy on cotton, wheat, etc.) raised by the US government. On the other hand, the Indian government also has asked the WTO to look into the steel and aluminium tariffs imposed by the US government.
