Difference Between Dual Core Processors and Core 2 DUO Processors

Both of these are types of processors, but there is a major difference between Dual-Core Processors and Core 2 DUO Processors. The Dual-Core Processors are basically a type of CPU (Central Processing Unit) consisting of two complete cores of execution. It is very similar to the Intel Pentium Dual-Core. On the other hand, the Core 2 DUO refers to a series of various Dual-Core processors that Intel invented. We will look into many such differences in this article in a tabular form.

Difference Between Dual Core Processors and Core 2 DUO Processors

Here is a list of the differences present between Dual Core Processors and Core 2 DUO Processors.

Parameters Dual-Core Processors Core 2 DUO Processors
Performance The Dual-Core Processor is comparatively much better than all of its previous processors. The Core 2 DUO processor performs much better than the Dual Core processor because it consists of a better overclock ability than the Dual Core Processor.
Cache Memory In this case, we have about 3 Megabytes of L2 cache memory. In this case, we have about 6 Megabytes of L2 cache memory.
History This processor falls under multi-core processors. This processor is an extensive version of the Dual-Core processor.
Cost According to various speeds and specifications available in the current market, a Dual Core Processor is cheaper, since it is a downgraded version of the Core 2 DUO Processor. According to various speeds and specifications available in the current market, a Core 2 DUO Processor is more expensive, since it is an upgraded version of the Dual Core Processor.
Overclock A user can easily overclock the CPU of the Dual Core Processors up to (approx) 3.12 Gigahertz. A user can overclock the CPU of the Core 2 DUO Processors up to (approx) 4.0 Gigahertz.
Execution The Dual-Core Processors consist of two complete cores of execution. The Core 2 DUO Processors have a very high ability to overclock/ clocking speed. Thus, it can parallely execute multiple tasks.
Examples The Intel G530 Dual Core is a commendable example of a Dual Core Processor. The Intel Core 2 DUO T8100 is a great example in this case.
