Difference between JPEG and PNG

JPEG and PNG are both popular image formats through which we can store the images. Let’s discuss some major differences between JPEG and PNG.

What is JPEG?

The full form of JPEG is the Joint Photographic Experts Group. It is an extension that is used to store images. The format looks like .jpg and .jpeg. JPEG generally prefers lossy compression algorithms for digital images or the images generated by digital photography.

What is PNG?

The full form of PNG is the Portable Graphics. It is an extension to store the images in PNG format. The format looks like .png. It is also popularly used as an uncompressed raster image format and prefers the lossless compression method. That means the size of the image is generally large here.

Difference between JPEG and PNG
