MySQL Vs. MS SQL Server: Know the Difference Between MySQL and MS SQL Server
Both of these are RDBMS (relational database management systems), but there is a significant difference between MySQL and MS SQL server. The former one is free to use and open source, while the latter one is a licensed product offered by Microsoft.
The term SQL is a short form for Structured Query Language. We use SQL for accessing, retrieving, and manipulating the data and information present in a database.
What is MySQL?
It is an open-source type of RDBMS that is free to use for all of its users. MySQL works on the basis of SQL, and it can easily run on various platforms such as UNIX, Linux, and Windows.
What is MS SQL Server?
Microsoft mainly developed this type of RDBMS. Also, Microsoft Corporation is the owner of the MS SQL server. Its primary function is to store and access data in the exact way in which other applications require them. It remains the same whether it runs on the computer that stores the server or the computers that get connected to the network.
