What is a Test Plan?

A Test Plan acts as a record that summarises the method, scope, intent, and significance of a software testing task.

What is Test Strategy?

Test Strategy is a set of guidelines and principles that helps in determining the test design and manages how the software testing procedure will be accomplished. The purpose of the test strategy is to deliver an organised strategy in order to guarantee traceability, quality, reliability, and more.

Difference between Test Plan and Test Strategy

S.No. Test Plan Test Strategy
1 It is a document that represents the objective and scope of software testing and focuses on the endeavour. It is a set of regulations that illustrates test design and defines how testing requires to be executed.
2 The test plan describes the specification and other significant details. Test strategy describes the guidelines and procedures.
3 We can modify the test plan. We cannot modify the test strategy.
4 It needs to be executed in order to identify the risk factors and issues. Here, we can outline data that is not project-oriented and place it into a test approach.
5 It exists individually. It is often encountered as a segment of a test plan.
6 We can specify the test plan at the project level. We can set the test strategy at the organisation level and can be utilised by several projects.
