GATE Results Analysis
GATE result analysis is one of the essential aspects of the exam. Every year 6-8 lakh students appear in the GATE exam. Though the number of students appearing each year is high, the passing percentage is comparatively low. However, though the qualifying percentage is low, the toppers of every subject have scored excellent marks. For example, in GATE 2021, Civil Engineering has the highest score among all the subjects, 95.56, whereas Statistics has the lowest 51.67, out of 100.
Students can refer to previous years’ GATE result analysis to better understand the difficulty level of the papers of each subject. Below is the list of GATE exam analyses from 2017-2021.

In the above tables, we can see that every year, Mechanical engineering has the highest number of students appearing for the exam, followed by Civil, Electrical and Electronics and Computer Science. With the increase in subjects each year, the number of students appearing in the exam increases every year. But if we compare the number of students appearing in Science and Humanities to Engineering background students, it is low. There are exceptions, of course. What could be the reasons behind this? One of the obvious answers is that the no. of students opting for Engineering is higher than the other two. Secondly, the opportunities students are getting after clearing the exam.
Moreover, one can appear for the exam right after completing a Bachelor’s degree for Engineering graduates. In contrast, Science and Humanities students are eligible only after their Master’s degree.
