DSSSB Exam shortlists candidates through a Tier 1/Tier 2 examination scheme along with a skill test. DSSSB Exam Pattern & Syllabus

In the DSSSB TGT exam, applicants must answer 200 questions in 2 hours, each worth one mark. In the DSSSB PGT, 300 questions must be answered in 3 hours, with one mark assigned to each. The question paper will be divided into two parts: Part A will consist of five sections for 20 marks each, and Part B will be worth 100 marks. The exam will include negative marks. The syllabus of the DSSSB exam is as follows:

General Awareness: This section comprises current events and questions from history, geography, general science, economics, and scientific research.

General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability: This section tests a candidate’s problem-solving skills, visual memory, observation power, understanding of relationships, arithmetical reasoning, etc.

Arithmetical and Numerical Ability: This section covers Number Systems, including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, etc.

Hindi Language and Comprehension: This section comprises questions on Hindi Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and their correct usage.

English Language and Comprehension: This section majorly tests a candidate’s English Vocabulary, Grammar, and comprehension skills.

Post-specific subject-related questions: This section is applicable only for Tier I Technical posts, and questions based on the opted subjects and posts will be asked in this section.

Tips & Strategies to crack the DSSSB exam on the first attempt

  1. Know the syllabus thoroughly. The top-scoring candidates are aware of the in and out of the syllabus.
  2. Prepare the important questions religiously, as the level of difficulty of questions varies every year.
  3. Solve previous years’ questions to get an understanding of the exam pattern, marking scheme and difficulty level.
  4. Make a note of important concepts from each chapter and create short notes, visual representations and flow charts to understand and recollect topics well.
  5. Understand your strengths and weaknesses and make a list of topics that would need the maximum amount of effort from your end. Practise them dedicatedly.
  6. Set your goals of improving your score in practice tests by working on your weak areas.
  7. Revise topics that you have covered to help you improve in those areas and to recollect them during the exam easily.
  8. For the General Awareness section, be thorough with the last three to four months’ current affairs, list of important events, awards, books & authors, schemes, etc.

  11. The language section is a bit tricky and needs good reading habits. Reading comprehension can be easily attempted by inculcating efficient reading skills. Try reading a good newspaper or article daily. Practice questions daily from this section to boost your vocabulary and acquire the maximum possible marks in this section.
  12. For the subject-specific section, be thorough with the subjects that you have chosen. This is a high-weightage section, and aspirants must prepare these concepts with much dedication.
  13. Make a specific timetable that includes all the sections in the syllabus. Allocate time according to the difficulty level and your understanding of concepts.
  14. Invest in the best study materials and resources for the exam. Avoid cramming or learning from multiple sources for each subject. This would lead to confusion and can cost you marks.
  15. Analyse the exam pattern and difficulty level by solving the previous year’s question papers.
  16. Aspirants can improve their time management skills by regularly practising DSSSB PGT sample papers and mock tests.
  17. Candidates should keep track of how much time they spend on each question of the test in order to rectify their mistakes and know how much time they spend on each question.
  18. Avoid being anxious, as anxiety does not help applicants achieve a high score, and candidates should be confident throughout the exam to do well.
