Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) conducts various examinations for several government posts in Kerala. One among the important examinations conducted by KPSC is for the post of Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) Officer (Junior Time Scale) Trainee for Stream-1, Stream-2 and Stream-3.
The Kerala Administrative Service examination for KAS Officer (Junior Time Scale) Trainee was last conducted in 2020 and the rank list that is published by Kerala PSC for the aforementioned exam remains in force for 1 year.

Scheme of the KAS Examination
The KAS examination is divided into 3 phases:
- Preliminary examination
- Main examination
- Interview
Preliminary Examination
Preliminary examination consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both paper 1 and 2 are of objective type and test the candidates through multiple choice questions (MCQs). Marks obtained in the preliminary examination are not used for final ranking of candidates.

Main Examination
KAS Main examination is descriptive in nature and comprises 3 Papers. Questions for Paper 1, 2 and 3 are given in English but the candidates can answer it either in English or Malayalam.

Interview
The last phase of the examination is an interview and it carries 50 marks. Candidates who clear the Main examination are called for the interview. All information regarding the interview is published on the official website of the Kerala Public Service Commission.

- Visit the official website of Kerala PSC i.e. keralapsc.gov.in
- From the ‘Downloads’ tab, select ‘Previous Year Question Papers’.
- Now you can select the year and click on ‘Go’. Among all the available options, select KAS Prelims or KAS Mains to download the respective previous year question papers.
