What are the 5 causes of climate change?

The five main causes of climate change are described below:

  • Concentration of greenhouse gases – This is the primary cause as the increase of greenhouse gases like Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Methane (CH4), Nitrous oxide (N2O), Carbon dioxide (CO2), and Ozone (O3) in the atmosphere degrade the quality of the air we breathe
  • Deforestation – Human beings are destroying the forests and green areas for the purpose of urbanization and construction of human habitats, this has resulted in the loss of habitat for various animal species. Also, cutting down of trees results in increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
  • Astronomical causes – The variations in solar output related to sunspot activities come under this category. Also, the parts of rockets that form debris in space also contributes to the space pollution
  • Volcanism – Volcanic eruptions throw up loads of aerosols into the atmosphere
  • Excessive Use of Fossil Fuels – This is another cause for the change in climate as the energy released by the usage of fossil fuels into the atmosphere, degrades its quality
