What causes suspended particulate matter?

Particulate matter particles are either caused by humans or through natural processes. Examples of suspended particulate matter are volcanic eruptions, soil erosion or import of desert sand 

Particulate matter particles can either originate from anthropogenic (caused by humans) or from natural sources.
