What makes mangroves unique?

Mangroves have developed unique adaptations to the harsh conditions of coastal environments. They consist of a number of salt-tolerant species of plants. They can live in areas with less oxygen. Dense mangroves are the common varieties with roots of the plants submerged underwater.
