When was Gram Nyayalaya established?

The Gram Nyayalaya Bill was passed by both houses of the Parliament on 21 December 2008. The Act came into force on 2 October 2009 through a gazette notification by the Central Government.

The Central Government had decided to meet the non-recurring expenditure on the establishment of the Gram Nyayalayas subject to a ceiling of Rs 18 Lakhs out of which:

• Rs 10 Lakhs – construction of the court
• Rs 5 Lakhs – vehicle 
• Rs 3 Lakhs – office equipment.
