The jurisdiction of Gram Nyayalayas is brief below:

• The territorial jurisdiction of a Gram Nyayalaya shall extend to the entire area of the intermediate Panchayat where it is established. 
• A Gram Nyayalaya shall try criminal cases, civil suits, claims or disputes which are specified in the First Schedule and the Second Schedule of the Gram Nyayalaya Act.
