The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was passed by the Indian government to protect wildlife in India.
The Act provides for the protection of wild animals, birds and plants; and for matters connected with the protection of plants and animals. The Wild Life (Protection) Act 1972 extends to the whole of India.
