The Council for the Indian School Certificate (CISCE) will follow a common exam schedule for ICSE Class 9 and Class 11 across all affiliated schools. The CISCE has taken up this decision to maintain uniformity to ensure that schools adhere to the syllabus of that year.
Last month, the CISCE released a circular stating that all schools under its jurisdiction would get common question papers of all theory subjects for the two classes.
The time table prescribed by the Council will be followed by all affiliated schools and should conduct examinations for both classes. The theory paper will be set by the Council and schools will set papers for practical exams at their levels. Earlier, the Council observed that many schools would skip covering the concepts from Class 9 and ISC Class 11 and would focus teaching more on the syllabus of Class 10 and 12, which was not the right practice.
Earlier, the CISCE planned the move on 2018-19, but it was pushed to 2019-20 as the Council needed some time to put the required infrastructure and security measures in place.
The ICSE Class 9 November session exams will be conducted from November 4 and 20 this year and the February session exam will be held from February 10 and 26 in 2020. The exam time table for both the November and February sessions are mentioned below as updated on the official website.
