IIT Guwahati established in 1994 is the sixth member of the IITs founded by the Government of India. The technical and research institute started its academic programme from 1995 wherein the first batch of students was admitted in its Bachelor of Technology programme. The selection process was done through the Joint Entrance Examination.
IIT Guwahati has eleven departments and five inter-disciplinary academic centres. The institute offers courses in all major engineering, science and humanities disciplines. The institute provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. IIT Guwahati is one of the top 10 IITs in India.
On the basis of JEE Advanced Score, the Institute offers admissions in its BE/B Tech Programme. UCEED scores for B Design, GATE scores for M.Tech/M.E programmes based on, M.Des programmes based on CEED scores, JAM scores for M.Sc programmes. IIT Guwahati, Assam has good connectivity through rail, road and air from other parts of the country. The nearest airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport from where Students can reach the institute within 40 minutes, they can either hire a cab or a bus and can reach the institute with ease. IIT Guwahati Admission
