The marking scheme that was followed in Paper I  was in the following manner:

IIT JEE 2012: Expert’s Viewpoint

The two papers were set in the following manner in terms of difficulty level:

Physics Physics was moderately difficult with few calculation based questions.
Chemistry This section was from easy to moderate level.
Maths The Mathematics section was tricky and lengthy.
Overall No major errors, irregularities or confusions were seen in the question paper.

IIT JEE 2012 Paper Analysis: Chemistry

  • Chemistry section contained questions that were of moderate difficulty level.
  • Greater emphasis was given to Physical and Organic Chemistry portions.
  • Very fewer questions were asked from Inorganic Chemistry.
  • One question (Qn.22 in version 0) in paper II seemed to have an improbable answer.

IIT JEE 2012 Paper Analysis: Physics

  • Physics section was on a moderate level even though a few questions involved tedious calculations.
  • Majority of the questions involved the integration of concepts across the topics.
  • Physics section in paper 2 was more difficult than paper 1. There was some ambiguity in the questions asked.
  • In general,  comprehension based questions were on the difficult side.

  • Mathematics was a moderately difficult section.
  • There were direct questions that required both algebraic manipulations and in-depth subject knowledge.

IIT JEE 2012 board also officially announced  that the IIT JEE 2012 cutoff will be as per given below:

  • IIT JEE 2012 overall cutoff for General Category of Students will be 35 % and Subject-wise IIT JEE 2012 cut off will be 10%.
  • IIT JEE 2012 overall cutoff for OBC category of students will be 31.5% and subject-wise Cutoff will be 9%.
  • IIT JEE 2012 overall cutoff for SC and ST students will be 17.5% and subjective Cut off 5%.
