The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar also known as IIT Ropar is a recently established IIT in India. The institute is among the eight newer Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) to exist in the country. Previously, the institute was based on a temporary campus but now it has started operations from its permanent campus at Birla Seed Farms. The institution is located in Rupnagar, Punjab, India.
IIT Delhi is the mentor institute of IIT Ropar but the institution has its own commitment to provide state-of-the-art technical education in a variety of fields and facilitate a transformative learning environment for its students. Currently, the institute has more than 1500 students and close to 160 faculty members. Admissions into different undergraduate courses offered at IIT Ropar are given purely on the basis of rank achieved in JEE exams where candidates have to clear both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. They also have to appear for JoSAA counseling.

Over the years IIT Ropar has seen a steady growth in placement. The institution has a good placement record and has seen a successful season with almost all eligible students getting placed. An average package of nearly 12 lakhs per annum was offered with an increment of 10 percent in comparison to the last season.
