JEE Advanced 2016 Paper Analysis

JEE Advanced 2016 Paper Analysis – IIT Guwahati conducted JEE Advanced 2016 on 22nd May. Over two lakh, students appeared for the second phase of the IIT JEE exam. JEE Advanced consisted of two papers that were conducted in two shifts.

  • Paper 1 – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Paper 2 – 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

JEE Advanced 2016: Expert’s Viewpoint

As per the experts, the two papers were set in the following manner:

Subjects Difficulty Level
Physics On a moderate level. Took a long time to solve all the questions.
Chemistry Consisted of a few tricky questions requiring greater alertness and sound knowledge of the fundamentals.
Maths From moderate to difficult level. Questions from the topic of Calculus were lengthy.
Overall Both the papers were quite moderate and well-balanced paper. Quite similar to the 2015 paper in terms of the difficulty level.

JEE Advanced 2016 Subject-wise Analysis

JEE Advanced 2016 Physics

  • Physics section had a blend of easy, medium and difficult level questions.
  • However, the Physics paper demanded more time.
  • Questions were asked from almost all the units but more weightage was given to Mechanics.
  • In paper II, this section was difficult as more of lengthy and calculation based questions were asked.

The Physics section was more focused on the conceptual part. No question in Physics had an incorrect answer for an option.

JEE Advanced 2016 Chemistry

  • Chemistry section in the paper I was on the difficult side whereas in paper II this section was relatively easier.
  • The questions in both paper I and II were quite tricky which required alertness and sound fundamentals.
  • Physical, organic and inorganic chemistry had almost the same weightage.
  • Organic chemistry questions were above a moderate level.

Overall, JEE Advanced 2016 was a tough paper. Physics and Mathematics were lengthy and challenging. The Chemistry section was comparatively easier. JEE Advanced 2016 did turn out to be tougher than JEE Advanced 2015.
