Regional Engineering College, presently known as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal), was founded in 1959. On October 10, 1959, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation for this institution, the first of 30 NITs in the country. The Institute currently contains thirteen academic departments, a few advanced research centres, and almost 100 organised laboratories in various engineering, pure science, and management fields. The NIT Warangal campus is entirely residential, with twenty dormitory blocks. The facilities available to students include a well-furnished kitchen and dining areas, canteens, a reading room, LAN connectivity in the rooms, and expansive lawns, which provides students with a very comfortable on-campus experience.

NIT Warangal Admission
In 2021, the admission process at NIT Warangal was done online. To get admission to the B.Tech programmes, the candidate must have scored the minimum JEE Main cutoff score. The Central Seat Allocation Board, created by the Indian Government, examines the scores obtained by the applicants for the Class 12 and JEE Main. The admission of non-resident Indians, foreigners and people of Indian origin is based on the rules and regulations of the Direct Admission of Students Abroad scheme. The Institute takes the results of the CAT or MAT exam into account while granting MBA admission. Subsequently, calls for group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI) are made for the chosen candidates.
