Cubic Meter

A cubic meter is equal to 1000 liter (one thousand liter). It is represented by the symbol m3 or meter cube. Cubic meter is an SI unit of volume, when a cube has length equal to 1 meter. Since a cube has all its sides equal, therefore the volume of cube is equal to:

V = length x breadth x width

V = 1m x 1m x 1m

V = 1 m3 or 1 cubic meter

How to Calculate Cubic Meter Volume?

Cubic meter is the SI (International System of Units) of Volume. As we all know, for any solids, the volume of its shape is measured. So, for all the three-dimensional shapes, the volume is measured in cubic meters or cubic centimeters, depending on the unit of dimensions.

If the dimensions of a cube or cuboid is in meters, then the volume of the cube or cuboid will be measured in cubic meters. Let us see examples here.

Examples

Example 1: If the length of edges of the cube is equal to 3 m. Then the volume of cube will be:

Volume of cube = Edge3 = 33 = 27 meter cube

Example 2: If the length, breadth and height of cuboid 2m, 3m and 5m. Then the volume of cuboid is:

V = Length x Breadth x Height

V = 2m x 3m x 5m

V = 30 m3

Conversion of Cubic Meter

We can convert cubic meters into other different units, such as cubic centimeters, cubic feet, cubic yards, etc. We will see here the conversion of cubic meters to other units.

Cubic Meter to Cubic Centimeter

One cubic meter is equal to 1000000 cubic centimeters.

How?

We know, 1 meter is equal to 1000 centimeters.

Therefore, 1 cubic meter will be equal to 1000 times of 1000 centimeters.

Hence,

1 cubic meter = 1000 x 1000 centimeters

1 cu.m. = 1000000 cm

Cubic Meter to Square Meter

As we know, a cubic meter is a unit of volume whereas a square meter is a unit of area. We get cubic meters when we multiply length x breadth x thickness and square meter on multiplication of length x breadth. Therefore, to convert cubic meter to square meter, we need to divide the volume by thickness.

One cubic meter is equal to one square meter.

Cubic Meter to Cubic Feet

One cubic meter is equal to 35.3147 cubic feet.

Since, 1 meter = 3.2808399 feet

Therefore, 1 meter cube = 1 m x 1m x 1m

1 cu.m = 3.2808399 x 3.2808399 x 3.2808399

1 cu.m = 35.31466688252347 cube feet

Some of the converted values are given below:

  • 1 m³ = 35.31 ft³
  • 2 m³ = 70.63 ft³
  • 3 m³ = 105.94 ft³
  • 4 m³ = 141.26 ft³
  • 5 m³ = 176.57 ft³

In the same way, you can convert any cubic meter value into equivalent cubic feet by multiplying it with 35.3147.
