The dipole moment is the force experienced by two charges +q and -q separated by the distance d expressed as a product of these two factors. Another definition is that dipole moment is a product of these strengths of either charge in a magnetic or electronic dipole with the distance separating them. It is a vector quantity. Dipole moments arise due to dipole at different bonds. A dipole is a state of a molecule having a separation of charges on two bonded atoms. It occurs due to the difference in electronegativity of atoms involved in the bond. This separation of charges results in a force that when multiplied by the distance between the charges gives us a factor called dipole moment of the molecule.
