Every year, the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) conducts the IGKO (International General Knowledge Olympiad). The IGKO Olympiad test is held for students in grades 1 to 10. Its goal is to encourage students to become more interested in current events and broaden their knowledge. Students participating in the IGKO Olympiad must be familiar with the IGKO Olympiad Syllabus.

Since the IGKO exam is primarily used to evaluate candidates’ general awareness, you should expect some questions about current events. Besides that, the IGKO Olympiad Syllabus will cover important topics from Geography, History, Mathematics, Science, etc. The four primary sections of the exam paper are General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills, and the Achievers Section. The IGKO Syllabus of each section is different for students in grades 1-4 and 5-10.
IGKO Syllabus for Class 1 to 10
The Syllabus of IGKO is divided into four sections for each class from 1st to 10th.
1st Section: General Awareness – Topics based on important events worldwide.
2nd Section: Current Affairs – It contains questions from recent events.
3rd Section: Life Skills – Topics based on abilities for managing and living a better quality of life.
4th Section: Achievers Section – Contains questions related to higher-order thinking skills.
The Marking Scheme of IGKO
Classes 1 to 4 have a different marking scheme than classes 5 to 10. The marking structure of IGKO is tabulated below.
