IMO Class 3 Syllabus

The IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) is an important exam for all students. This exam is held yearly for students in grades 1 to 12 worldwide, and all IMO aspirants must study the International Mathematics Olympiad syllabus. Students can familiarise themselves with the various topics covered in the tests by studying the IMO syllabus. The IMO syllabus is based on multiple CBSE, ICSE/ISE, and state board curricula.

The Maths Olympiad IMO Class 3 syllabus is the same as that taught in all schools. Students find learning what’s discussed in class easier and more enjoyable. Olympiad exams help to improve the overall grasp of the subject. It allows them to tackle various issues while sticking to the fundamentals. The four sections included in the IMO syllabus are Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and Achievers.

Syllabus for IMO Class 3

The exam will consist of 35 questions with a total of 40 marks. The duration of the test will be one hour. For preparation, students can refer to NCERT books and the previous years’ question papers of class 3. Level I questions will be from 60 per cent of the class 3 syllabus and 40 per cent of the class 2 syllabus. The Achievers section will have questions from the class 3 syllabus. The IMO class 3 syllabus is divided into four sections:

  1. Logical Reasoning section – The section is meant to help students improve their learning abilities, and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.
  2. Mathematical Reasoning section – Students must learn several methods for strengthening Mathematical reasoning by resolving various kinds of Mathematical problems.
  3. Everyday Mathematics – The 3rd section focuses on aiding students to improve their problem-solving skills in relation to various Mathematical concepts.
  4. Achiever section – Students are evaluated on their fundamental Mathematical skills in the last section. Since the core concepts are discussed in this segment, students must be conversant with the topics in advance to handle various questions more effectively.

The Marking Scheme for IMO Class 3

The marking scheme for Class 3 is tabulated below. Classes 1 to 4 have 35 questions to answer, while classes 5 to 12 have 50 questions to solve.
