IMO Syllabus Class 8

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is held by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for students in grades 1 to 12. By taking the IMO exam, students can improve their time management and competitive skills and aim for higher marks. It enables students to assess themselves at a local, regional, state, national, and international level. Competing with other students also gives them a strong sense of self-achievement, which motivates them to set higher goals.

The eighth-grade Math Olympiad is a competitive exam that prepares pupils for national and international competitions. Class 8 is regarded as a crucial academic year that determines future academic progress. This is the student’s first year of high school, so in-depth preparation must be implemented throughout this year. Students can thoroughly understand all concepts based on various topics by preparing for the Math Olympiad. Each topic in the IMO Syllabus for Class 8 is designed to prepare students for higher-level competitive exams.

SOF IMO Class 8 Syllabus

The olympiad syllabus for Class 8 Maths strengthens students’ foundational knowledge to answer complex questions based on advanced concepts. Students will understand high school math concepts as they prepare for the Class 8 Maths Olympiad. The IMO Class 8 Syllabus is divided into four sections:

  1. Logical Reasoning section – The section is meant to help students improve their learning abilities and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.
  2. Mathematical Reasoning section – Students must learn several methods for strengthening Mathematical reasoning by resolving various Mathematical problems.
  3. Everyday Mathematics – The 3rd section focuses on aiding students to improve their problem-solving skills concerning various Mathematical concepts.
  4. Achiever section – Students are evaluated on their fundamental Mathematical skills in the last section. Since the core concepts are discussed in this segment, students must be conversant with the topics in advance to handle various questions more effectively.

The Marking Scheme for IMO Class 8

The marking scheme for Class 8 is tabulated below. Classes 1 to 4 have 35 questions to answer, while Classes 5 to 12 have 50 questions to solve.
