Amino Acids are the building blocks of proteins since they are the organic compounds combined to form proteins. In nature, there are around 300 different amino acids. However, only 20 amino acids make up a protein. These biomolecules are essential for human growth and development and are engaged in several biological and chemical processes in the body.

The human body makes proteins using various combinations of 20 amino acids. Our body can produce several amino acids but cannot produce the nine essential ones. They must be acquired from the food we consume.

Peptides and polypeptides are made up of amino acid sequences. Consequently, the complex interaction of polypeptides produces proteins, usually composed of 50 to thousands of amino acids.
