IIM Ahmedabad has released the CAT Result 2021 on 3rd January 2022. The exam was conducted on 28 November 2021 at various test centres across the country. Following the successful completion of the CAT 2021, the Objection Management window was opened from 8 December to 11th. All objections raised were assessed by the panel of subject experts and out of the 161 objections received, one objection in the QA Section was accepted by the panel. Around 2.3 lakh candidates had registered for the CAT 2021 exam.

CAT Result 2021 Highlights
- CAT 2021 was conducted in three shifts in 156 cities across India on 28 November 2021.
- Almost 2.3 lakh candidates had registered for the CAT 2021 exam. Out of which 1.92 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
- The overall difficulty level of the exam ranged between Moderate-Difficult.
- CAT 2021 results were declared on 3rd January 2022.
- The IIMs have begun the shortlisting of candidates on the basis of their CAT percentile and other parameters for WAT and PI.
CAT Result Date of Previous Years
The CAT Exam results of the previous years were always released within the first week of January every year. The trend of releasing the CAT results is given below in the following table for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 (tentative).

Steps to Check CAT Results
- First, go to the official CAT website i.e. iimcat.ac.in
- Click on the “Download CAT 2021 Score Card”, which will be available after the results are released.
- Log in using the user ID and password to view the scorecard of CAT 2021.
It should be noted that the CAT score is valid only for a year and for CAT 2021, the score will be valid until 31 December, 2022. After the results are released, candidates will be shortlisted based on various factors and the final list for WAT and PI will be released by the end of January. The final selection list will be released by April 2022 (tentative).
Note: The candidates will also be intimated through SMS, and the scorecard will be valid only until 31 December 2022. In addition to the CAT scorecard, candidates should carry verified copies of all the relevant documents.
CAT Results & Scorecard Details
- The results for CAT 2021 have been declared on the official website of the IIM. Following the viewing of scorecards, candidates should analyse their scores and start the shortlisting process of the colleges they want to apply to.
- The CAT score card 2021 will include the sectional and overall scaled score of the candidates and percentile, along with the personal details like name, registration number, etc.
- The score will be valid only for 1 year. The CAT score is one of the major criteria for selecting candidates for WAT and PI.

CAT Year-wise Result Analysis
Almost a quarter of a million MBA aspirants register for the CAT exam every year and only a handful of them make it into the top percentiles. An overview of the results for CAT 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 are given below for reference.
CAT Result Analysis 2021
IIM Ahmedabad successfully convened CAT 2021. IIM-CAT released the CAT 2021 results on their official website-www.iimcat.ac.in.
According to the press release from the CAT Centre, IIM Ahmedabad,
- Only 1.90 candidates out of the 2.30 registered candidates had appeared for the exam. There were approximately 83% present, with 35% females, 65% males, and 2 transgender candidates.
- 9 candidates bagged 100 percentiles (7 from engineering backgrounds and 2 from non-engineering backgrounds).
- No female applicant made it to the 100 percentile list for the fourth straight year, despite the low number of female applicants taking the CAT.
- Out of the 9 candidates, 4 candidates were from Maharashtra, 2 from Uttar Pradesh and the other three were from Haryana, Telangana, and West Bengal.

CAT Result Analysis 2020
On 2 January 2021, IIM Indore published the CAT 2020 results on their official web page. IIM Indore made significant changes to the CAT 2020 test pattern.
- There were 1.47 lakh male candidates and nearly 80,000 female candidates among the 2.27 lakh registered candidates.
- Until last year, the exam was held in two sessions of 180 minutes each. The duration was also reduced from 180 minutes to 120 minutes.
- Out of a total of 2.27 lakh candidates, 1.90 lakh candidates took the exam.
- In CAT 2020, nine students, all of whom are male, received a perfect score of 100 percentile. Eight of the candidates were engineers, while one candidate was a graduate of IIM Indore’s integrated management programme.
- Despite the Covid crisis, the overall attendance was around 83.5 percent. The number of slots for CAT 2020 was increased due to the pandemic.

CAT Result Analysis 2019
CAT 2019 recorded a giant leap in the number of test-takers in the past 10 years.
- Out of the 244,190 registered candidates, 2,09,926 candidates took the exam successfully.
- There were 35.73 per cent more females competing in CAT 2019 than in CAT 2018, up from 35.02 per cent.
- The difficulty level was moderate, and when compared to CAT 2018, it was considerably easier.

CAT Result Analysis 2018
CAT 2018’s overall difficulty level was moderate to difficult.
- The exam took place in two slots across 147 cities in the country.
- In 2018, there were 73326 female candidates, 136075 male candidates, and four transgender candidates, who took the exam.
- All 100 percentile achievers were men with an engineering background, with 21 candidates scoring 99.99%.
- Among the 100 percentilers, all those with a technical background were men. Twenty-one of these candidates scored at the 99.99 percentile.
- A shortlist of 1990 candidates was released shortly after the CAT 2018 results were announced on January 5, 2019, for the PI-WAT phase for 2,09,405 test-takers who took the exam on November 25, 2018.

This year also, it is expected that 18-20 students will score a perfect percentile, i.e. 100. Even candidates from non-engineering backgrounds have started to secure the 100 percentile mark in recent years. Shortlisting Criteria by the IIMs
- With the announcement of the CAT result, candidates who have met the shortlisting cut-off have to log in using their CAT Exam credentials on the respective website of the IIMs.
- Following the shortlisting of candidates on the basis of the IIM shortlisting criteria, those who are selected to participate in the interview are notified by email.
- In the last round, the IIMs evaluate the candidate based on the composite score that takes into account a variety of factors to determine the eligibility. Based on past academic performance, work experience, PI, and WAT scores, the composite score criteria differ from IIM to IIM.
