1. “Fragile 5” to “Top 5”

Context: In the last ten years  India recorded a rapid rise across various global parameters and universal benchmarks.

Details:

  • Today India has emerged as the fifth largest economy and the 3rd largest Startup Ecosystem;in the Global Innovation Index we jumped 41 places in ten years.
  • The world today hails India’s leadership, we are excelling the world in tackling Climate Change, our efforts towards Green Energy and Zero Emission and initiative of launching the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) during the historic G20 Summit in New Delhi
  • “Fragile 5” to  “Top 5”, India’s journey of the last ten years is a case study in itself, which would amuse and enthuse any student of Economics..
  • In the last ten years India recorded a rapid rise across various global parameters and universal benchmarks.
  • Today India has emerged as the fifth largest economy in the world and in the Global Innovation Index we ranked 81 in 2014, we have jumped 41 places, today we are No. 40 in the world
  • India has the 3rd largest Startup Ecosystem globally and is home to the fastest-growing unicorns.
  • “From just over 350 StartUps in the year 2014,India grew over 300 times. rolled out the special StartUp scheme in 2016, today we have over 1,30,000 StartUps, besides more than 110 Unicorns,”
  • “Space reforms undertaken  lifted the veil of secrecy that shrouded India’s Space programmes. With the opening up of the Space sector, the common masses have been able to witness the launch of the mega Space events like Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya,”

2. Aadi Mahotsav

Context: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Aadi Mahotsav 2024 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi today .

Details:

  • Speaking on the occasion, the President said that our country is full of diversity. But the sentiment of ‘unity in diversity’ has always been present. 
  • The reason for this sentiment is our enthusiasm to know, understand and adopt each other’s traditions, food and language. 
  • This feeling of respect for each other is at the core of our unity. She was happy to witness the unique confluence of tribal culture and heritage of different states at the Aadi Mahotsav. She said that it is a good opportunity to get acquainted with the lifestyle, music, art and cuisine of the tribal brothers and sisters from every corner of the country.
  • She expressed confidence that people will get an opportunity to know and understand many aspects of the life of the tribal society during this festival.
  • President visited various stalls and interacted with Tribal artisans during the event. She purchased Chanderi saree woven by Sahariya weavers (PVTG) residing in Chanderi town of Madhya Pradesh, wild mushrooms grown at a high altitude of about 15000ft from Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. 
  • Tribal community members showed their love and affection towards President by gifting Longpi pottery made from a mixed paste of ground black serpentine and special clay found in Manipur, which were hand painted by tribal artists from Jharkhand. Hon’ble President also praised woolen products like Pashmina wool from Leh.
