UPSC appoints IAS Officer T Jacob as new Secretary.Â
T Jacob, the new UPSC Secretary is a 1984 batch cadre officer from Tamil Nadu (TN).
The President of India Pranab Mukherjee appointed Professor David R Syiemlieh as the Chairman of the Union Public Commission (UPSC) in January.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) appoints T Jacob a senior IAS Officer has the new secretary following the recent appointment of David Syiemlieh as the UPSC chairman by the President. He will also hold the rank in the Government of India as an Additional Secretary.
Professor David R Syiemlieh a member of the commission in Meghalayas was appointed as the UPSC President in January by the President Pranab Mukherjee. Professor David R Syiemlieh succeeded Alka Sirohi, a retired IAS Officers of the Madhya Pradesh Cadre.
T Jacob a 1984 batch cadre officer from Tamil Nadu was working as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training before being appointed as the new secretary of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
An official order by the commission said that Amitabh Verma the chairman of Inland Waterway of India has been repatriated to his parent cadre Bihar with immediate effect and will continue to service in the new position until the further instructions. Verma is an IAS Officer from 1983 batch Union Territory Cadre. For now, Nutan Guha Biswas, the current Additional Secretary in the ministry of Women and Child Development have been appointed as the Chairperson of the Inland Waterways of India, Ministry of Shipping, in the rank of a Secretary.
While Vandita Sharma who is a member of Finance in the Atomic Energy/Earth Commission will be appointed the Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Space and will be replacing A Vijay Anand. Also, Bala Prasad on a compulsory wait has been appointed as the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayt Raj in place of the retired A K Goayal.
Vandita Sharma is an IAS Officer of 1986 batch Cadre of Karnataka, while Bala Prasad had worked as an Indian Forest Service Officer of the Manipur Cadre.
