Integrated Automatic Aviation Meteorological Systems

  • IAAMS was inaugurated at INS Garuda.
  • INS Garuda is the fourth air station to have been installed with this integrated system.
  • IAAMS is an ambitious project of the Indian Navy to modernise the Meteorological infrastructure of the nine Naval Air Stations.

About IAAMS

  • It is Equipped with the state of the art Meteorological Sensors viz., Radar Vertical Wind Profiler, Transmissometer, Ceilometer and Automatic Weather Observation System.
  • IAAMS undertakes automatic and continuous recording of relevant weather parameters that are vital for accurate weather forecasting.
  • It has a special alarm feature that alerts the duty staff about any abnormal change of weather parameters that may affect safe flying operations.

About INS Garuda

  • It is an Indian naval air station located in Kochi, in the state of Kerala.
  • It was commissioned on 11 May 1953.
  • It is the oldest operating air station of the Indian Navy.

Hunar Haat

  • The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is organising Hunar Haat under Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTTAD).
  • It provides an opportunity, as well as domestic and international exposure to the master artisans from across the country.
  • The theme of this year’s “Hunar Haat” being organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs is “Development with Dignity”.

 


ASH TRACK Mobile App

  • Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh, launched a Web based monitoring System and a Fly Ash mobile application named ASH TRACKhere today.
  • This platform will enable better management of the ash produced by thermal power plants by providing an interface between fly ash producers (Thermal Power Plants) and potential ash users such as – road contractors, cement plants etc.

‘Clean My Coach’ scheme

  • This scheme is used for any cleaning requirement in the coach, passenger can send a message through mobile (SMS) on a specified mobile number. 
  • ‘Clean My Coach’ service is now being upgraded to ‘Coach Mitra’ facility which is a single window interface to register coach related requirements of passengers such as cleaning, disinfection, linen, train lighting, air conditioning and watering of coaches. 
  • ‘Coach Mitra’ facility has been introduced in about 800 pairs of trains.

 


Mega ADIP &   Vayoshri Yojna Camp

  • A Mega Camp for Distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices to Divyangjan and Senior Citizens under ADIP & Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana will be organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India at Gwalior.
  • This will be the first ever Mega distribution camp to be graced by the President of India.
  • Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh has taken an initiative to become the first ‘Divyang Mitra’district of the country.
  • ADIP scheme has been in operation since 1981 and has been revised with effect from 1st April 2017. The main objective of the scheme is to provide latest and modern aids and assistive devices to the Divyangjan to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation and to enhance their economic potential.
  • ALIMCO being the major implementing agency under the ADIP Scheme, conducts camps regularly across the country for distribution of aids and assistive devices.
  • Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana was launched in the country in December 2016 for providing assistive living devices to Senior citizens belonging to BPL category.

 


NITI Aayog releases “Healthy States, Progressive India” Report

  • NITI Aayog released today a comprehensive Health Index report titled, “Healthy States, Progressive India”.
  • It is the first attempt to establish an annual systematic tool to measure and understand the heterogeneity and complexity of the nation’s performance in Health.
  • The report has been developed by NITI Aayog, with technical assistance from the World Bank, and in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)
  • The Health Index is a weighted composite Index, which for the larger States, is based on indicators in three domains: (a) Health Outcomes (70%); (b) Governance and Information (12%); and (c) Key Inputs and Processes (18%), with each domain assigned a weight based on its importance.
  • Among the Larger States, Kerala, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu ranked on top in terms of overall performance.
  • Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh are the top three ranking States in terms of annual incremental performance.
  • Among Smaller States, Mizoram ranked first followed by Manipur on overall performance, while Manipur followed by Goa were the top ranked States in terms of annual incremental performance.
  • Among UTs, Lakshadweep showed both the best overall performance as well as the highest annual incremental performance.
