How are administrative tribunals created?

  • According to the provisions of Article 323A, the Parliament has passed the Administrative Tribunals Act in 1985. The act authorises the central government to establish one Central Administrative Tribunal and the state administrative tribunals.
  • Each Tribunal shall consist of a chairman and a number of vice-chairmen and judicial and administrative members as the appropriate government (either the central government or any particular state government singly or jointly) may deem fit.
  • A bench shall consist of one judicial member and one administrative member.
