The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2019 increases the number of Supreme Court judges from 30 to 33. But, the Act fixes the maximum number of judges in the Supreme Court at 30 judges (excluding the Chief Justice of India). Therefore, the Supreme Court of India can comprise a maximum of one Chief Justice and not more than 30 other Judges appointed by the President of India.
