How many National Political Parties are there in India?

1. Bharatiya Janata Party
2. Communist Party of India
3. Communist Party of India (Marxist)
4. Indian National Congress
5. Nationalist Congress Party
6. National People’s Party
7. All India Trinamool Congress
8. Bahujan Samaj Party

• A registered party can be recognized as a National Party only if it satisfies the following criteria according to the Election Commission of India:

1.The party secures 2 percent seats in the Lok Sabha from at least 3 different states.

2. A party secures 6% of the votes in the General Election to Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly in four states and wins 4 Lok Sabha seats from any state or states.
3. A party is recognized as a state party in four or more states.
