- A registered party can be recognized as a National Party only if it satisfies the following criteria according to the Election Commission of India:
1.The party secures 2 percent seats in the Lok Sabha from at least 3 different states.
- A party secures 6% of the votes in the General Election to Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly in four states and wins 4 Lok Sabha seats from any state or states.
- A party is recognized as a state party in four or more states.
