India’s first Air Taxi service has been launched in?

  • On 14th January 2021, India’s first Air Taxi service was launched in Chandigarh.
  • The service was launched under the ‘UDAN’ scheme of the government and inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar.
  • With an accommodative capacity of 4 people, including the pilot, the service aims to make short flights to people with on-demand air services.
  • Air Taxi India has received the Scheduled Commuter Airline Permit from the DCGA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) to offer the services. According to the report, the airline has 26 routes under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN.

    (2)Range of 742 nautical miles

    (3)Cost of Rs. 1,755 per seat

    (4)Aligns with the government’s aim to promote connectivity with metros in Tier-2 and (5)Tier-3 cities of the country. .

    UDAN scheme

    • UDAN scheme was started in October 2016 and aims to connect small and medium cities with big cities in India through air connectivity.UDAN stands for Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagarik.
