Kabaddi is the national sport of India’s neighbouring country, Bangladesh.
It was adopted as the National Game of Bangladesh in 1972. Kabaddi is popularly known as Hadudu in Bangladesh.
A form of contact sport, which means a sport that demands physical contact between the players, is played by two teams of seven players.
The objective of a single player in offence, known as a raider is to touch the maximum number of defenders from the opposite team and come back to their part of the court.
The evolution of Kabaddi can be traced back to India.
The International governing body for Kabaddi is the International Kabaddi Federation (IKB), formed in 2004.
Kabaddi is quite popular in the Indian subcontinent and is the state sport of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India came into existence in 1972. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association and headquartered in Jaipur.
