The Kesari newspaper was edited by Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
A Marathi newspaper founded on 4th January 1881, it was a mouthpiece of the Indian Freedom Movement.
The editors of the newspaper along with Bal Gangadhar Tilak were Agarkar and Narasimha Chintaman Kelkar.
Maratha was another newspaper started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was one of the prominent leaders and a radical nationalist of the freedom movement in India.
Referred to as the “Father of Indian Unrest”, he founded the Home Rule League in April 1916. He signed the Lucknow Pact in 1916 with Muhammad Ali Jinnah which affirmed the Hindu-Muslim Unity in India.
He was one of the Trio’s of Lal-Pal-Bal, which included Lala Lajpat Rai, Bipin Chandra Pal, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak. They were extremist leaders who carried out revolutionary activities during the freedom struggle.
He advocated Swaraj or self-rule in India.
He was referred to as “The Maker of Modern India” by Mahatma Gandhi.
