The place that receives the least rainfall in India is?

  • The least rainfall in India is recorded in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
  • The average rainfall in Rajasthan is about 200-40 mm and the least amount of rainfall is in the Jaisalmer district, which is around 12 cm a year. The rainy season is from the month of September to October.
  • Rajasthan receives the maximum rainfall from South-West Monsoon.
  • Reasons for the acute rainfall are: 
  •  It is located in the Thar desert
  • The average temperature in summers is 40 to 45 degrees Celsius
  •  It lies in the rain shadow region of the Aravalli mountains, thus obstructing the route of moisture-carrying winds.

 

  • India receives an average rainfall of 118 cm and the maximum rainfall from the South-West monsoon.
  • Jaisalmer is known as the Golden city, and is the largest district of Rajasthan.
