The following roads are prohibited in eco-sensitive zones:
- Commercial coal mining
- Saw mills
- Polluting industries
- Commercial forestry
- Tourism activities that might discharge damaging affluents into the soil or air like hot air balloons
Eco-sensitive zones are set up as environmental shock absorbers in national parks, wildlife sanctuaries etc, to regulate human activities in the area.
