What is a temperate zone?

The temperate zone lies between 23.5 degrees and 66.5 degrees in the north and south hemispheres. The North Temperate Zone is situated between the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer. The South Temperate Zone is situated between the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of Capricorn.
