The other name of the Quit India Movement is also known as the August Movement. It was launched at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee by Mahatma Gandhi on 8 August 1942, during World War II, demanding an end to British rule in India.
The Quit India movement showed to the British that India was ungovernable in the long run and decided to leave India following the end of World War II in 1945. India would be granted full independence in August 15, 1947
