Sriharikota is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), a spaceport under the Indian Space Research Organization is located in Sriharikota. Sriharikota is a barrier island in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.
It supports the launch-based infrastructure for ISRO and is chosen as an ideal site for the launch of geostationary satellites because of its proximity to the equator.
It has facilities for solid propellant processing, static testing of solid motors, tracking and command network, launch vehicle integration, etc.
SDSC has separate launch pads to carry out operations for PSLV and GSLV satellites.
Satish Dhawan Space Centre is located in the Pulicat Lake of Andhra Pradesh. It is named after the former chairman of ISRO, Satish Dhawan.
Apart from SDSC, India houses Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Shri A Rajarajan is the director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
