Raja Ram Mohan Roy is known as the Bengal Renaissance man. The Bengal Renaissance saw a period of remarkable transformation of Indian society marked by a unique version of liberalism and modernity.
Additionally it also gave rise to anticolonialist and nationalistic ideals and thought which would sow the seeds for the larger Indian independence movement.
