Getting into IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) is a dream for lakhs of students. IITs are considered as the top colleges for making future secure in terms of job and money. So many students have a question whether they can pursue a course in IITs after completing 10th, answer to this question will be given in this article.
After completing 10th, a student is not eligible to get admission into IIT in any course. He/she has to pass 12th with 75 percent for candidates belonging to General, OBC-NCL category and 65 percent to the candidates belonging to the categories like SC, ST, PwD. So the candidate who wants to appear for IIT JEE exam must qualify 12th with 75 percent for General, OBC category and 65 percent for other reserved categories like SC, ST, PwD.
Class 12th marks are very crucial for the JEE as 40 percent weightage goes to qualifying exam that is 12th board exam and 60 percent weightage goes to JEE Mains. JEE Mains is the eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced to get into IITs. There is minimum marks required for JEE Mains but these minimum marks vary for the candidates belonging to different categories: in 2018, for general candidates minimum marks were 74, for OBC-NCL minimum marks were 45, for SC minimum marks were 29, for ST minimum marks were 24, PwD minimum marks were -35.
Students can also enter IITs for other courses as well through JAM (Joint Admission Test) for M.Sc., GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) for M-Tech., for designing courses UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design), CEED(Common Entrance Exam for Design), HSEE (Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam), CAT (Common Admission Test) for MBA in IITs. So if one has dream to enter into IITs, there are so many other ways and courses except JEE.
