Every NEET aspirant’s first step is to schedule a study planner way ahead of the exam. The most important thing to keep in mind while scheduling is the ‘time’. Make sure you plan the right things at the right time. This is because it is vital to set your biological clock much before your NEET exam date. This will ensure that you remain focused and alert during the examination hours. Here are 7 tips that will help you set your biological clock right.
Moreover, there is no wrong or right way to schedule study hours. Everyone’s brain activity and time preferences vary. But make sure it does not affect you during the examination hours (2 to 5.20 pm).
Establish a sleep schedule
The first and foremost thing is to set up a proper sleep schedule. Make sure you get a minimum of 7 to 8 hours of sleep in a day. Try to avoid late-night studies and go to bed early. This will make sure you are active in the morning hours. Also, students who wake up too early should make sure they don’t get tired during the afternoon hours. Most importantly, don’t force yourself to stay awake past your bedtime.
Reduce screen time
Avoid using your mobile at least an hour or two before your sleep. Having an increased screen time during late at night will eventually result in increased brain activity. Thus it will affect your whole sleep schedule. It is important to give yourself a complete rest from around 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. If possible, try to switch off your phones before sleep.
Have proper meals at right time
It is always vital to have a well-balanced diet. Be it before exams or after, make sure you eat right. Also, ensure that you eat them at the right time. Do not have your meals just before your bedtime. Try to have them at least 2 hours before you sleep. It is best to schedule your meal times in your study planner.
More importantly, try to avoid junk food, especially late at night. It can deteriorate your health which can affect you during exams.
Fix your study routine
Plan your study timetable for NEET in such a way that your sleep schedule, meal time and preparation time favours you during the time of exam (2:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.). Anything you practice for 21 days will eventually become a habit. So, curate your planner accordingly. The most important thing is to stick to the planner. This will also ensure that you give maximum output in a given hour. Know your exam timings and solve more questions around that hour.
Avoid distractions
Checking notifications can easily distract you from your learning and sleeping schedule. Try to turn off your mobiles whenever possible. Even if the screen time is productive, try to decrease it gradually. Also, try to avoid unnecessary phone calls which can affect your study time as well as mindset. The last couple of months is a good time to completely avoid distractions and stay more focused on your goals.
Relax your mind
It is important to have a focused mind. But try not to take stress or panic to stay focused. The anxiety before the exam can also affect your sleep-wake cycle. Thus stay as calm and positive as possible. Try to incorporate meditation into your daily routine. Even a simple 15-20 minutes meditation break has the potential to relax your mind.
Exercise daily
Try to schedule a minimum of 30 minutes in a day for physical exercise. This will increase blood circulation in the body and will lead to a more active brain. Remember that a healthy body is as important as a healthy mind.
