The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) hosts the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) for students in grades 1 to 12. By taking the IMO exam, students can enhance their time management and competitive skills and prepare for higher grades. It allows students to evaluate themselves locally, regionally, state-wide, nationally, and internationally. Competing with others propels a strong sense of self-achievement in students, motivating them to reach higher goals.

Class 9 is regarded as a crucial academic year that will decide academic advancement in the future. Since this is the student’s second year of high school, they must prepare thoroughly throughout the year. The ninth-grade Math Olympiad is a competitive exam that prepares pupils for national and international competitions. Each topic in the IMO Syllabus is intended to prepare them for higher-level competitive exams. By preparing for the Maths Olympiad, students can fully understand all topics related to various concepts.
SOF IMO Class 9 Syllabus
The Olympiad Syllabus for Class 9 Maths strengthens students’ foundational knowledge to answer complex questions based on advanced concepts. Students will understand high school Maths concepts better as they prepare for the Class 9 Maths Olympiad. The IMO Class 9 Syllabus is divided into four sections:
- Logical Reasoning section – The section is meant to help students improve their learning abilities and feel comfortable approaching nonverbal and verbal reasoning on several topics.
- Mathematical Reasoning section – Students must learn several methods for strengthening Mathematical reasoning by resolving various Mathematical problems.
- Everyday Mathematics – The 3rd section focuses on aiding students in improving their problem-solving skills concerning various Mathematical concepts.
- Achiever section – Students are evaluated on their fundamental Mathematical skills in the last section. Since the core concepts are discussed in this segment, students must be conversant with the topics in advance to handle various questions more effectively.

The Marking Scheme for IMO Class 9
The marking scheme for Class 9 is tabulated below. Classes 1 to 4 have 35 questions to answer, while classes 5 to 12 have 50 questions to solve.
