The term living mainly refers to an organism having unique features including growth, nutrition, development, respiration, ability to sense, reproduction, movement, excretion, digestion, metabolism, etc. The world or a place where all the living organisms are found are referred to as the living world.
The world in which we all are living includes a wide range of living things, different features, its extraordinary habitats and lot more. In this chapter of The Living World, students learn about different living things including animals, plants, migrating birds and about different living species existing in cold mountains, wide forests, deep oceans, freshwater lakes, and hot deserts.
All living organisms which are existing in today are the result of 3 to 3.5 billion years of organic evolution. This chapter explains the characteristics of the living organism, Diversity in the living world and Taxonomic categories.
