AuditOnline Software Programme [World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2023]

In March 2023, the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2023 was held at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva. In this context, it is important to know what is the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is all about, about the WSIS awards and other details for the IAS exam.

WSIS Forum 2023

• The WSIS Forum 2023 is slated to take place at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) in Geneva.
• ‘WSIS Action Lines for building back better and accelerating the accomplishment of the SDGs’ is the theme of the WSIS Forum 2023.

World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2023:

• The annual World Summit on the Information Society Forum is a global multi-stakeholder venue for furthering sustainable development.
• It is organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line co-/facilitators and other UN entities. 
• It offers a chance for information exchange while taking into account how the Information and Knowledge Societies are changing.

AuditOnline Software Programme

• At the WSIS Forum 2023, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) received appreciation for their AuditOnline software tool.
• Based on the most popular project in the category, AuditOnline won the WSIS Prizes Award 2023 for the Action Line category ICT Applications: e-Government.
• AuditOnline is one of the generic and open-source applications developed as a part of Panchayat Enterprise Suite (PES) under the e-panchayat Mission Mode Project (MMP) initiated by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR).
• The tool enables the financial audit of accounts at all three levels of Panchayats namely District, Block and Village Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and line departments by auditors.
• Apart from facilitating online and offline audits of accounts, the software also maintains the past audit records of the auditee with the associated list of the auditors and audit team involved in the audit.
• AuditOnline software helps improve transparency and accountability.
