1. Commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger

Context – Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated a program, ‘Commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger” in Mysuru, Karnataka and also launched International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).
Details –
- The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated a program, ‘Commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger’ at Mysuru University, Mysuru in Karnataka and also launched International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA). He released a commemorative coin on the completion of 50 years of Project Tiger . Also, released the publications – Amrit Kaal ka vision for tiger conservation, a summary report of the 5th cycle of management effectiveness evaluation of tiger reserves, declared tiger numbers and released the summary report of all India tiger estimation (5th cycle).
- At present, India is home to 75% of the world tiger population and the tiger reserves in India cover 75,000 square kilometres of land. During the past 10-12 years, the tiger population in the country has increased by 75%.
- India contributes 8% to the known global biodiversity, though it has only 2.4 % of the total world’s land area.
- India is the largest tiger range country in the world, the largest elephant range country in the world and also the largest single horn rhino country in the world. India is the only country in the world to have asiatic lions.
- The total number of Ramsar Sites in India are 75. India has added over 2200 square kilometres of forest and tree cover by 2021 as compared to 2019.
International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA)
- The Prime Minister launched the IBCA.
- In July 2019, Shri Modi called for an alliance of Global Leaders against poaching and illegal wildlife trade in Asia on Global Tiger Day (29th July).
- The aim of IBCA is to focus on the protection and conservation of seven major big cats of the world – Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Tiger, Jaguar, Puma and Cheetah.

Context – Shri Narendra Modi appreciates the President’s sortie in Sukhoi 30 MKI Aircraft.
Details –
- Shri Narendra Modi has appreciated President Droupadi Murmu who took a historic sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam.
Sukhoi 30 MKI Aircraft-
- The Sukhoi-30 MKI is a twin-seater multirole fighter jet developed by Russia’s Sukhoi and built under licence by India’s aerospace giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
- It is equipped with the state-of-the-art avionics and weapon systems, making it a formidable force in the skies.

Prelims – Hyderabad’s Bowenpally Biogas Plant.
Context – Shri Narendra Modi praised the one of its kind bio-electricity, biofuel and bio-manure generation project -Bowenpally’s Biogas Plant during one of the Mann Ki Baat episodes.
Details –
- In sabzi mandis vegetables rot due to a variety of reasons and spread unhygienic conditions. Traders at Bowenpally’s Vegetable Market decided to generate electricity out of waste vegetables.
- Every ounce of vegetable and fruit waste collected from Bowenpally’s vegetable market is used to generate around 500 units of electricity and 30 kg of biofuel. The biogas plant is now called the ‘path to sustainable future’.
- Around 30 kg of biofuel generated per day is supplied to the kitchen facilities near the unit and 400-500 units of electric power is being utilised by the administrative building, market water supply network , around 100 streetlights and 170 stalls of the market.
- The Biogas plant funded by the Department of Biotechnology and Department of Agriculture marketing Telangana, Geetanath (2021) was set up under the guidance and patented technology of CSIR-IICT (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology) executed by the Hyderabad-based Ahuja Engineering Services Pvt Ltd.
4. India-France Business Summit

Context – India-France Business Summit commemorating 25 years of India-France friendship to be held in Paris on April 11, 2023.
Details –
- The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal will lead the Indian delegation at India -France Business Summit, commemorating 25 years of India France friendship in Paris on April 11, 2023.
- Shri Goyal and Olivier Becht, France’s Minister delegate of Foreign Trade, Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad will co-chair the India-France Business Summit.
- The Summit will focus on themes including building a green future, emerging technologies, defence cooperation and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific regions.
- This upcoming visit is expected to provide further momentum to bilateral relations with India’s key business partners in the European region.
