Orientation Programme for Newly Elected and Nominated Members of Rajya Sabha
- The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the Members of Parliament should leave their politics outside the Parliament and they have to contribute their best for framing the programmes and policies for the benefit of the poor.
- The Vice President said that the Rules are sacrosanct for all of us and together we are bound by the Rule Book.
- He further said that the Rules provide enough instruments to raise the issues of public importance. With scrupulous adherence to Rules, we can utilise available time efficiently.
- The Parliamentary democracy allows enough space for the articulation of diverse view points. When an issue is thoroughly debated and multiple perspectives emerge, the final legislation is likely to be more comprehensive, he added.
- The Vice President quoted the first Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan as saying: “We are for the first time starting the new parliamentary system, with a Second Chamber in the Center, and we should try to do everything in our power to justify to the public of this country that a second chamber is essential to prevent hasty legislation. We should discuss with dispassion and detachment proposals put before us.”
- The Vice President said that Information Technology is an indispensable tool for enhanced efficiency and most of you extensively use IT tools in your work. He invited the Members to use the new IT initiatives. For your benefit we have also introduced e-Notice system whereby you can submit your Notices online, he added.
Quality education to the Students belonging to Minority Communities
- The National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) working under the aegis of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India has extended its helping hand for the Delhi United Christian Senior Secondary School by refurbishing their Computer Centre and also providing water coolers with in-built RO system for ensuring safe drinking water.
- This support is being extended under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of NMDFC.
- Shri Naqvi, while addressing the students, appreciated the initiative of NMDFC in reaching out to schools under CSR programme and extending much needed support to students who deserve such facilities in the schools. He assured the students of the school that the Government is committed to “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” philosophy.
- Therefore they should avail the benefits of a variety of educational support schemes being run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs & other Govt. schemes.
- Mohammad Shahbaz Ali, CMD, NMDFC on this occasion informed that endeavour of NMDFC under its CSR programme is to extend a helping hand to children of disadvantaged groups to acquire knowledge of Computers, to fulfil the vision of the Government of Digital India.
- He also appreciated the management of the school in extending education to disadvantaged category students.
Workshop on Election Management for IAS Asstt Secretaries
- The Election Commission of India (ECI) conducted a day-long First Ever Orientation Workshop for IAS officers of the 2016 Batch in New Delhi.
- The workshop was aimed at familiarising the Assistant Secretaries with all facets of Electoral Management before they are required to handle crucial assignments in conducting Elections in their field postings soon.
